PNG to WebP Converter
PNG stores every pixel exactly as it was authored, which is why screenshots and UI exports come out so heavy. Convert them to a compressed format right here — the files never leave your browser.

How to convert a PNG
Drop the files in, pick what you want out, download. Nothing is uploaded.
- 01
Add your PNG files
Drag them onto the panel or use the file picker. You can queue as many as you like at once — the whole batch is handled in one go.
- 02
Choose an output format
JPG for the smallest photos, WebP when you want compression but need the transparency kept, AVIF where your browser supports writing it.
- 03
Convert and download
Each file is decoded and re-encoded locally. One file downloads on its own; a batch comes back as a single ZIP.
Convert another format
Every converter here runs in your browser and needs no account.
- Convert JPGMove JPG and JPEG photos into PNG, WebP or AVIF in the browser — stop further quality loss, or cut the file size well below the original. Batch convert to a ZIP.
- Convert WebPTurn WebP files into PNG or JPG that older software, print workflows and upload forms will actually accept. Runs in your browser; batches download as a ZIP.
- Convert AVIFTurn AVIF downloads into WebP, PNG or JPG that Photoshop, Office and older phones will open. Transparency is kept, and the batch converts in your browser.
- Convert GIFConvert still GIFs to PNG, JPG or WebP in your browser and escape the 256-colour limit. Batch convert to a ZIP — animated GIFs give you the first frame.
- Convert BMPCut uncompressed BMP scans and Windows exports down to a fraction of their size as WebP, PNG or JPG. A 24-bit bitmap loses nothing going to PNG.
- Convert HEICConvert iPhone HEIC photos to JPG, PNG or WebP in your browser. Batch convert a whole camera roll to a ZIP, with nothing uploaded and no Windows codec to buy.
- Convert NEFTurn a Nikon NEF into a shareable JPG, PNG or WebP without Lightroom or NX Studio — by extracting the full-size JPEG Nikon embedded, not developing the raw.
- Convert CR2Open a Canon CR2 as JPG, PNG or WebP with no Digital Photo Professional. It lifts out the embedded full-size JPEG, so Picture Styles survive. CR3 is not supported.
- Convert ARWSony ARW from an Alpha, ZV or FX body to JPG, PNG or WebP without Imaging Edge. It reads the camera's embedded JPEG, so compressed and uncompressed both work.
Questions about converting PNG
What PNG is good at, and what you give up by leaving it.
Why are my PNG files so large?
- PNG is lossless: it reproduces every pixel exactly rather than discarding detail your eye would not miss. That is ideal for screenshots, logos and flat UI, but it is the wrong fit for photographs, where a lossy format like JPG or WebP can be five to ten times smaller with no visible difference.
Will I lose transparency converting PNG to JPG?
- Yes — JPG has no alpha channel at all. Rather than let transparent areas turn black, this converter flattens them onto a white background first, so what you download matches what you saw. If you need the transparency kept, convert to WebP or AVIF instead.
Is the WebP this tool produces lossless?
- No. The browser's canvas encoder only writes lossy WebP, so a PNG converted to WebP is re-compressed at the quality setting. It is still visually excellent and much smaller, but if you need pixel-exact output, keep the PNG.
